My Why

My current "why" is to produce something worthwhile. I want to produce worthwhile experiences through producing concrete things.

There are many, many ways of going about this, of course, and that's the beauty of it.

• Independent Research

  My interest is two-fold, with a technical side ("how?") and a product side ("why?"):

  (1) On the technical side, my interest is in systems, as of now digging more into MLSystems, with the goal of enhancing the technology so that it can get in our recipients' hands.

  Note: I'm willing to train models but do not seek roles where model-training is my main responsibility, having gone through a period of study where model training was my focus. I treat AI research as Moore’s Law, in that I trust that it’s in good hands, and great models will improve without me. My interests are more downstream of AI research, where I treat models as persistently improving creatures and focus on what I can do with a great model.

  Another note: I'm not rigidly stuck in systems or AI. If I'm approached with an idea that helps me or someone I know, I'll gladly explore it even if it doesn't involve systems or AI. So, if you have an idea that you would like to get me on board, I would love to chat!

• Secondary: Digital Artifacts

  Some interests that had been primary interests were reverse engineering, indie games, and writing children's novels. I still like these things, and I still do them sometimes :)

  If there's any strange code you'd like me to investigate, I would be interested in hearing about it. If you make anything that brings you joy and would like me to see, it would be a joy for me as well!

• Secondary: Physical Artifacts

  I want to get better at mending clothes and upcycling fabric. It's good for the environment, and it's satisfying! If you have old clothes, damaged clothing, or any fabric you would like to get rid of, I would love to take it up for you.
